Happy Canada Day

Today we spent all afternoon at my friend Karen's house to celebrate Canada's birthday. The kids had a blast in the pool and I was pleasantly surprised that they played so well with the other kids there. Avery kept me pretty busy, so I didn't have a whole lot of time to sit and visit, but I did manage to fit a conversation or two in until I'd hear "mommy!" Maybe a couple of more years and I'll get to relax a little more. We were there until 8Pm. Dale had to work, but he joined us after for a little while. You know-eat and run! The kids were very tired and Avery zonked out as soon as she hit the pillow-which is very unusual for her. Blake was so disappointed that he had to go home, but I assured him we'd be coming back again. If the weather stays like this, we'll be there everyday to cool off!! At least it wasn't as hot as it was yesterday. Over 30 degrees, but today was a nice 25 degrees.






I am actually just finishing up my week of holidays. Since I have to work the upcoming weekend, I'll have actually had 11 days off! This past weekend, we went up to Turtle Lake to spend a couple of days at our friends cabin. Friday was wet and not so warm, so we couldn't really do a whole lot, but Sat and Sun were hot and we were able to get in some tubing, water skiing and fishing. Avery had a rough couple of nights--waking up every hour and a half. We think she might have had growing pains, so that put a little damper on things. But other than that, we had a good time visiting with friends, soaking in some sunshine, and relaxing! Lee put on a fireworks show on Sat. night. I have never been that close to fireworks before-it was really neat to watch. Blake of course, loved the campfire. He wanted to have a fire everyday all day long. I don't know if it was the weekend or these past hot days, but my kids have been sleeping in until after 8AM. Avery didn't wake up until 8:45 on Monday morning. I don't know how I'm going to get up to go to work early--I'm getting spoiled!
