The Ports of Call

St. Maarten was our first stop. Lots of shopping, but Dale and I had no interest in buying jewellry and local souvenirs, so we headed straight to the beach. Extremely hot and I must admit we all got a 'little' sunburned. The kids had a blast in the sea. It was very wavy, so we had to keep a good eye on them but they thought it was hilarious to be pushed up on the beach by the waves. Avery was especially in her glory finding and collecting seashells. New ones were washed up all the time with the waves.

Can you beleive she even let someone braid her hair!!

Next stop was St. Thomas. Once again it was off to the beach. We went to Magen's Bay--apparantly at one time one of the 10 nicest beaches in the world. It was beautiful and much calmer that St. Maarten. The kids could wander in quite far without us worrying about them. The cloud cover that day provided some much needed relief for our burns.

Last stop: Castaway Cay--disney's own private island. We were so lucky to have such nice weather this day as there had been a cold freeze passing through Florida which we thought we might hit. But it was probably the best beach day of all. We got to meet captain Jack Sparrow and his boat. (The Flying Dutchman??-can't remember the name now). There were lots of characters throughout the island, but we had already met all of them by now. Once again it was a day filled with swimming, sandcastle building and the occasional drink for mommy and daddy! A great way to spend time in the middle of January!!
