Hockey, Hockey and more Hockey

Today was Blake's first hockey tournament in Aberdeen. Here he is all ready to go in the van with his new "Wild Dogs" toque. They played 3 games which forced us to be at the rink from 10:30AM until 6:30PM. Dale had to work at 3:00 so it was just me for the rest of the day. I was a little worried about Avery, but she did amazingly well without a nap. I guess it helped that the Aberdeen rink is newly renovated into a rec complex and there is lots of space. I took her little DVD player and coloring books and she was able to sit at a table and do her own thing while I watched the games at the window.

They didn't "win" any of their games and Blake didn't get any goals but he finally learned how to save the shots. Dale told him to sprawl himself out on the ice any time the puck came near, so that's what he did and he saved quite a few shots.

I don't know how they did it, but after every ice game, the boys had more games of hockey with their mini-sticks. They also had a game of bowling which was right in the complex. At least we didn't have to start the van to go anywhere--the freezing cold is back and when we left the rink it was -44 with the wind chill!

Avery couldn't resist getting her picture taken. I'm afraid that I may have another little hockey player on my hands. Oh no! I already missed a whole day of scrapbooking because of the one kid!
